Plarning Mats for the Homeless

The Presbyterian women are making mats make out of plastic bags. the mats are light weight, waterproof and actually have a cushion feel to them. they are made from plastic bags which we cut into strips and loop together to be crocheted into a mat. It take 500 to 700 bags to make one sleeping mat 36X72 inches.

Although they are not meeting together, the women are still working individually to make the mats. Some are folding bags, some are cutting bags and other are actually making balls of "plarn" (plastic yarn) to be crocheted into mats.
